Workshop | 29.01.2025 | Nieuwe Vide (NL)

Haptic Encounters took place within the framework of Teken or Leave It, a series of workshops presented by the Nieuwe Vide, Haarlem, in collaboration with creative practitioners. The aim of these workshops is to provide low-threshold access to art education, supporting audiences who may not otherwise have the financial or social means to engage in such activities.

The workshop focused on the ‘haptic encounter’, a concept that is central to Notes on Hapticity’s projects. Elena Kostenko presented a short-form lecture, featuring examples of how hapticity can be understood through the lens of art history, cinema and popular culture.

During the second part of the workshop, Hannah Dawn Henderson guided the participants through a set of exercises, supporting them to create their own collection of haptic encounters using both digital and analogue techniques.
